Underline the subject and circle the verb:
1. American Fork Junior High is presenting the play Beauty and the Beast this week.
2. Ms. Hansen is the drama teacher.
3. Are you going to the play?
The subject is what the sentence is about, and what the predicate says, the subject does or is.
Another way to look at it is to find the COMPLETE SUBJECT and the COMPLETE PREDICATE, that is, the subject and all the words that go with it, and the predicate with all the words that go with it.
1. American Fork Junior High / is presenting the play Beauty and the Beast this week.
2. Ms. Hansen is the drama teacher.
3. Are you going to the play?
