Know how to spell the words, which definition will match each word, and  which character each word is referring to.   
 The retake is also available for the last spelling test on teachers' names, etc.

Today’s  Agenda:

1. Spelling Test: 
Take about ten minutes to study. 

Example of Test Questions: (This is not one of our words for today.)
31-32.  short for Cheshire Cat, the character in Alice in Wonderland  ___Chessy cat___
      33.  Which character was "grinning like a Chessy cat" after sneaking up 
               on Pony and Johnny at the drive-in movie? _______Two-Bit________________
  1. Clear your desks of everything except a pencil. 
  2. Remember that you should not communicate with anyone but the teacher until she says the test is over.  
  3. Mrs. Dorsey will give you the words verbally.  Write them down on the bottom or back of the test. 
  4. Write your answers legibly.  
  5. Capitalize proper nouns.  Do not capitalize your spelling words. 
  6. Match the words to their meanings.  
  7. Identify the character from The Outsiders who is being talked about in each quote that goes with a spelling word.   
  8. When you are done, pick up the retake for last time if you need it, and complete the retake.  Remember to capitalize when needed and to write very legibly.  
If you finish early, you may quietly read a book.  
We will correct today's test together.     



2.  CSI Sentence

Conventions in Sentences Investigations 
Copy these sentences into your composition book under 
CSI Sentences/Grammar.  Page 83/84 +
Label this CSI #6 and add today's date. 

We crouched in the weeds beside the railroad tracks, listening to the whistle grow louder (Hinton 62).

Write down three or more things you notice about the sentences (English class things such as punctuation, spelling, parts of speech, sentence type, etc.  The sentences are correct – no errors in it, I hope.)
