Monday/Tuesday, March 23/24, 2015

Today during Cavetime Lab 211 will be used for administering the SRI.  You may be able to finish there if the teachers who are running it have extra seats after their students come.  Ms. John may also have Lab 223 open.   Instructions for accessing it are on posters in the lab.

You do NOT need your composition book.
Do pick up a packet for the District Writing Test.

We will be in Writing Lab 211.

Today we will take the District Writing Test on MyAccess.
You will have articles to read and an essay to write.
Read the prompt carefully and do your best writing.
You will have one final submission only.

You must finish by the end of the period.

Use your own experiences and knowledge and opinions, as well as citing the sources you have been given.

                                                                     Utah Core, Writing Standard 1

If you are absent, see Ms. Dorsey about a time to take the test, or go to lab 223 during Cavetime.

First ask Ms. Dorsey for the packet with instructions and articles to use.

If you finish before the end of class, and have not finished your SRI test, do that.

After that, you may play

or

or
http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/game/en29punc-game-put-text-into-sentences
On this game, be aware that they are not using commas in the same ways we do -- in series and between independent clauses.
However, the game is about only the beginnings and ends of sentences -- capitalization and end punctuation.  Use the timer feature and see how quickly you can find all of the beginnings and endings of sentences.

Happy Birthday to Me!
When I clicked on the Google Doodle today, it popped up with this.  When I clicked on it, it wished me a Happy Birthday by name!
