7th Grade Prompt: Family and Friendship
Family and friendship are very important. We do many fun things with our friends and family. Think about one fun or exciting time you had with a very close friend or family member.

Write an essay in which you describe one thing you have done with your friend or family member and tell why it was fun.

Guidelines
As you write, remember your essay will be scored based on how well you:
1. Develop a multi-paragraph response that clearly communicates the purpose of your story to the audience. (Remember, a complete paragraph is five to seven, complete, correct, interesting sentences.)
2. Describe the characters, setting, and conflict using meaningful sensory descriptions and details that enable the reader to visualize the experience in your narrative.
3. Organize your story in a clear and logical manner, including an introduction, body, and conclusion.
4. Use well-structured sentences and language that are appropriate for your audience.
5. Edit your work to conform to the conventions of standard American English.

Purpose of my essay: to describe one thing I have done with a friend or family member and tell why it was fun. I may use the same event I wrote about when I took the pretest in the fall, or I may use a different event. If the topic I used earlier in the week fits this prompt, I may choose to use it.
Audience for my essay: classmates and teachers and, of course, the MYAccess grading program.
