I'd like to tell you about my first graphic novel, Spill Zone. It's about a young woman who's a survivor, a fierce older sister, and an outsider artist. She's from an upstate New York town that was destroyed three years ago in "the Spill."
No one's ever really explained the Spill Zone. Was it an alien visitation? A nanotech accident? A portal opening from another world? Since that night, no one's been allowed inside.
But Addison Merrick knows how to get through the patrols. She's dedicated to finding out what took her parents and left her little sister, Lexa, mute and disconnected. She supports herself and Lexa by taking Zone photographs and selling them as illegal art.
I hope you find Addison as engaging as Tally Youngblood or Deryn Sharp. She's been one of my favorite characters to write, a kick-ass heroine whose passion for art is brought to life in Alex Puvilland's brilliant work, with the perfect balance of grit and otherworldliness.
