Announcements and Reminders for Monday/Tuesday, November 12/13, 2018:
    Assignments now on Skyward and available to do on CANVAS: You have a new assignment on CANVAS to write a set of Text Messages from one Outsiders character to another. You will select one scene and imagine that a character could text another character about what's going on. Complete this and turn it in by Thanksgiving Break. You will use a Fake Text Message Generator and turn it in on CANVAS. Also, on Canvas, answer these questions: What do you know about the parts of an argument essay? What makes a good argument? What makes an effective argument essay?

Part A -- Defining Important Words
1. Write a paragraph in your composition book:
What do these words have in common, and why have they been listed here?
Label it "Words" and add today's date. (You have 5 minutes.)

2. Look at one of the words (assigned) in a small group to define it together.
A synonym is a word that means the same or almost the same.
An antonym is a word that means the opposite.
TASK 1: Write the core value that your group has been assigned in the center box. TASK 2: As a group, define the core value in your own words. You may not define the word using the word itself. TASK 3: Identify a minimum of 3 synonyms for your group’s core value. TASK 4: Identify a minimum of 3 antonyms for your group’s core value. TASK 5: Recognize real life examples of people who embody your group’s core value. Your examples are real people you know or know of -- one for each member of the group. You may use thesaurus.com on the chromebooks. For antonyms for Patriotism, you may need to Google the word.
