Announcements and Reminders:  for Tuesday, August 22, 2017 Back to School Pre-Game Dance this Friday! 7th and 8th Graders: bring $2 and come down to the girls’ gym right after school and dance your hearts out until 4. Tomorrow you will nominate students for Hope Squad.  Be thinking about someone or more than one who would do a good job helping other students. You can make class changes through Friday, August 25 without paying a fee. 4H Clubs begin on Monday, August 28.  The 4H leader will be here August 23rd after school and Friday, August 25 during  both lunches for students to sign up for clubs. School Pictures will be taken during math classes on Thursday and Friday, August 31 and September 1. Cavetime will begin on Tuesday, September 5. Scholastic Book Orders:  Use our class code when you order online:  GKLJW.

Targets for Today: I will participate appropriately in class activities. (Utah State Core Speaking and Listening, Standard 1) I will learn about the rules and procedures in my English classroom. I will legibly write a brief essay, following directions. (Utah State Core Writing, Standard 10) I will show what I know about literary terms. (Utah State Core Literature and Writing Standard 3)

Today’s  Agenda: A2 -- Remind me to hand out the Caveman Calendar Magnets next time!   1.  Find your seat on the seating chart. 2. Writing an 11-Minute Essay 3. Receive your disclosure document and quiz. Classroom Procedures and Rules. (B7 did NOT view the PowerPoint about the classroom.) 4. Test on Literary Terms When taking a test DO NOT talk, whisper, sign, or otherwise communicate with classmates until Ms. Dorsey says you may.     NO TALKING! Your desk should be cleared of everything except the testing materials. Do not look at another student's work. Take the time you need, but do not dawdle.  You will take the test on a bubble sheet which will be read by Mastery Connect.   Your name and student number are ALREADY on the bubble sheet. Fill in only the answers for the questions, using a pencil.  Do not make any extra marks on your bubble sheet. Do not write on the test itself. For this test, when you finish, bring the test sheet and test to Ms. Dorsey's desk. This is a PRETEST to find out what you already know.  Take the test seriously, and do your best.  If you have extra time, read a book quietly.  NO TALKING, PLEASE! 5.
