Paragraph Check

1. Underline the topic sentence with green.
2. Highlight transitions with yellow.
3. Underline the concluding sentence with red.
4. Is it focused on the assignment and doesn't wander?  Write "Focus" with a check mark behind it.
5. Does it include at least three effective supporting details -- evidence that the topic sentence is true?  Write "Supporting Details" with a check mark behind it.  
6. Did the student avoid using the word "you"?  If so, write "audience" with a check mark.
7. Did the student pay attention to conventions: complete sentences, capitalization, punctuation, spelling?   Write "Conventions" with a check mark behind it.
